Programs include reconnection with our DNA tested and proven Igbo brethren whose ancestors came as slaves from Igboland. Our Royal Majesties are usually in attendance to perform the traditional ritual of reconection and renaming ceremony done in concert with our very own Ticha Akuma Kalu and a designated Majesty to be witnessed by all attendees and dignitaries and Ohanaeze leadership in attendance.
Almost all the Royal Majesties from the South-East, South, South geopolitical zones are usually in attendance to this annual event along with some Executive Governors from the South-South and South Eastern States and Nollywood notables able to make it to the event.
The highlight of this event is the “Ama Ndi-Igbo” (Igbo Village) in the Americas, built in acknowledgement of our brethren that were brought to the Americas in the 16oos and 1700s. We acknowledge their imprints on the Americas landscape and we celebrate our collective contributions in the Americas in all areas from human to infrastructural developments.
You will also, be privileged to visit and explore how the early 16 and 17th century settlers lived; from the Irish, the German, the English and the Native Indians all located within the same proximity with “Ama Ndi-Igbo” (Igbo Village) .
There will be opportunity on Friday for a round table discussion and presentations by the academics and traditionalists on “Igbo Agenda” that will be centered on critical views on ways of sustaining Igbo Language, Culture and tradition at home and abroad. Also, give or take the dignitaries in attendance, there may be an opportunity for a Town Hall style discussion on FridayJuly 27th.
