Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike on Monday night joined about 40,000 football lovers to watch the World Cup  send off match between Super Eagles and Democratic Republic of Congo.

Also present at the International Friendly were: the President of Confederation of African Football, Ahmad Ahmad, Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, President Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinick, Two Former Super Eagles Captains, Nwankwo Kanu and Joseph Yobo.
The match which ended 1-1 witnessed the display of soccer artistry by the two teams.
Governor Wike led other dignitaries for the opening formalities.
Governor Wike expressed confidence that the Super Eagles will perform well in the World Cup.
He urged Nigerians  to support the team all through their World Cup in Russia, saying that football is a major uniting factor for the country.
It will be recalled that the Super Eagles started their World Cup qualifying campaign in Port Harcourt.
