Workers have been enjoined to always regard their entry into and exit from service as special moments to be celebrated at all times especially for those who retired honourably.

Mr Henry Owonaro, Chairman, Association of Heads of Federal Establishments (AHFGE), Rivers Chapter, stated this on Tuesday in Port Harcourt at the send forth of some retirees and transferees in Port Harcourt.

Owonaro who also stated that transfer and retirement remained a continuous affairs in the service, said that he was pleased that members found time to come and honour their colleagues.

The Chairman of the occasion, Retired Navy Capt. Tam Barango, also reiterated that transfer and retirements while in service were something to look forward to by workers.

“You can come and pass and nobody notices you. But you all came through here and people noticed you, so it is great send you forth to your new posting or and successful retirement from service.”

Retired Comptroller of Customs, Ajiya Mallam Masaya, who spoke on behalf of others, expressed pleasure at being honoured by his former colleagues, adding that the occasion was one of the most memorable in his life.

In separate valedictory remarks speakers were unanimous in their observation that it was not easy giving 35 years to this great country and retiring peacefully.

They also enjoined workers to imbibe habits that would prolong their lives even after retirement, adding that various benefits were derivable through meaningful associations with others while in service.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the “send fort for the retirees and transferees’’ held the Conference Hall of the Federal Secretariat, Port Harcourt.

High lights of the occasion were the presentation of awards to the retirees and transferees by the Association.
