Boko haram terror: scene of one of the blasts in Abuja

Powerful bomb explosions in the Nyanya and Kuje neighbourhoods  of Nigeria’s capital, Capital have resulted left several innocent people dead and many wounded. The explosions were said to have occurred almost simultaneously at midnight at the Kuje Market and the area around the Nyanya Police Station.

“The National Emergency Management Agency has deployed its rescue teams in the evacuation of the victims to various hospitals. The explosions which occured almost simultaneously have resulted in a number of deaths and injuries but the rescue operations coordinated by NEMA is still ongoing,” NEMA Press Officer Manzo Ezekiel said in a terse statement.

Nigerians celebrated the 55th independence anniversary of the country on Friday, October 1.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack seven as most analysts believe that the explosions is likely the handiwork of the Boko Haram terrorist group which had in the past bombed public institutions including the United Nations office in Abuja as well as churches, mosques markets, parks, schools, and other  other pubic places in parts of northern Nigeria.
