Few weeks after President Muhammadu Buhari flagged off the construction of the 260km superhighway in Cross River, quality control experts from Germany have arrived the state to ensure that the project’s execution met international best practice.
Speaking to newsmen in Calabar, shortly after their arrival, some of the expatriates, Eng. Frank Neobaver and Mr. Gauther Honisch, said they were eager to kick start the projects which they described as vry iconic in Africa by ensuring quality delivery and on time line.
They promised to bring the over 10 years of professional expertise in bridge and road constructions round the world to bear to deliver a project that will not only meet international standard but speak for them.
“We are setting up a state–of–the-art quality control laboratory in Cross River to enable us carryout first hand test of all materials for all the signature projects and we are hopeful that this will serve as a boost to our job in the state,” Honisch said.
Chairman, Cross River State Infrastructure Company Ltd, (INFRACROSS) High Chief Lihwu Eugene Akeh, said that there was need to bring quality control engineers on site because the state needs endorsement of their signatures to be sure of quality of roads to be delivered, stressing that with the engagement of the expatriates, the state will now deliver on road of its dream that will stand the test of time and constructed in line with global practice.
Also speaking, the Special Assistant to the Governor, Technical, Mr. Eric Akpo, who reiterated that work on the superhighway is currently ongoing, maintained that the Governor wants to ensure that all his projects are delivered according to international standard without compromise at any point no matter how challenging the terain will be.
He said that Gov. Ben Ayade of Cross River, is passionate about the 260km superhighway which is designed with ultramodern road furniture.
He assured that the project wouldl be delivered as a true signature project in sub-Sahara Africa that would enhance socio-economic development.
