Operation Pulo Shield Commander reads riots act, as troops nab oil thieves, destroy illegal refineries

 

Commander Operation PULO SHIELD, (OPPS) Maj.- Gen. Alani Okunlola on Thursday warned criminals in Niger Delta to relocate or get crushed.

 

A statement issued by Lt.-Col. Isa Ado, Spokesman, OPPS quotedOkunlola as promising to fish out pirates, Kidnappers and other criminals operating in the region for prosecution.

 

According to the spokesman the Commander gave this warning during his address to troops of Operation PULO SHIELD during his one day operational visit to Naval Forward Operation Base Igbokoda, Ondo state.

 

The Commander who was received by the Base Commander Navy Captain Luka Vonn Jehu while inspecting the facilities of the Base promised to provide necessary support for effective policing of the waterways.

 

He commended troops for their loyalty while calling on them to key into the OPPS’s zero tolerance campaign against oil theft and illegal oil bunkering.

 

Ado said that in another development, the anti-illegal oil bunkering squad of OPPS deployed at Adagbarasa Community in Okpe Local Government Area of Delta arrested 4 pipeline vandals on October 31, 2015.

 

The spokesman said that the suspects were arrested on the act while breaking the pipeline.

 

“Two trucks with registration numbers Kaduna KAF 626 XA and Kaduna MKA 542 XA found at the scene were also impounded.

 

“Both the suspects and trucks are in custody of Operation PULO SHIELD for preliminary investigation,” The statement read in part.

 

Ado said that troops also conducted patrol along Obangos creek in Tibo Community, Warri North LGA of Delta and destroyed six illegal oil bunkering sites.

 

The sites and items discovered were destroyed while no arrest was made during the operation as the suspects fled on sighting the troops.
