The Cross River Sports Commission has expressed appreciation for the National Council on Sports (NCS) on the re-affirmation of Calabar as host of the rescheduled 19th National Sports Festival (NSF)
This is contained in a message endorsed by its Chairman Chief Orok Duke through the Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Alhasan Yakmut, to the stakeholders of the festival. The extra-ordinary NCS held at the Lakeside Hotel of the Tinapa Business and Leisure Resort in Calabar.
“We are indeed grateful with the communiqué which has strengthened us to continue working assiduously to get the designated venues ready for the rescheduled date of Nov. 8 to 21, 2016 in Calabar
The sports commission also lauded Gov. Ben Ayade of Cross River for providing the relevant logistics for the successful hosting of the National Council on Sports meeting in Calabar. It stated that the meeting had assisted the stakeholders to assess the readiness of Cross River to host the games.
“With the reconstitution of the sports commission established by law No 1 2001 of the state house of assembly, we shall endeavor to translate appropriately the determination of the state to hold its own in the annals of history of sports in the country,” it stated.
The commission also stated that it would not only focus on talent hunt across the state but expose such talents to limelight.
It assured that adequate facilities and coaches supported by competent back room staff would be deployed by the commission to realise its mandate.
