Ese Eruru…abducted to Kano, forcefully converted and violated
Sequel to the arrival of Ese Oruru to Bayelsa on Wednesday, her classmates, friends and teacher in Opolo Community Secondary School, Yenagoa Local Government Area have said that they were yearning to have her back to school.
Mrs Douye Arise, Ese’s Class Teacher told our correspondent on Thursday in Yenagoa that her arrival to Bayelsa was hearth warming as they have been following the story of her ordeals with keen interest.
Ese, who has been reunited with her mother in Abuja was received by Bayelsa Police Commissioner, Mr Peter Ogunyanwo and currently in protective custody at Officers’ Mess.
Ese was abducted in Bayelsa by one Mr Yunusa Dahiru, about seven months ago and took her to Kano state and reportedly forced into a marriageat 14.
Arise, who decried the incident of abduction of girl child in schools across the country, however charged parents on their children upbringing.She said that keeping close watch on children would go a long way to checkmate the crime.
“The Simple thing to do is for the parents to improve on their children upbringing; keep regular check on the kind of friends they go out with, check on what they buy and use for themselves.” she said.
Another Teacher, Mrs Janet Wariebi, who made reference on the recent abduction of three female students in Lagos said the society and individuals have roles to play on children’s upbringing.
On Ese’s arrival to Bayelsa, Wariebi said it was a welcome development to the school, especially to her classmate.
“Yes, her classmate are also waiting to see her again, we thank God for her safety; my advice to the children (female) is that, they should not be carried away by what they see,” she said.
Veronica Opokumo, a student and Ese’s classmate said she was happy over her arrival to Bayelsa, she described her asa very friendly girl who was a victim of circumstance.
“We beleive she will be joining us soon because this is what we have been praying for; now she is back in good health, we are awaiting her, all her friends in school have been anxious, we are happy that she came back, we are waiting for her, she is a pleasant girl and my good friend, what happended to her was unfortunate and we feel for her.” Opokumao said.
