The Chairman of the Caretaker Committee of Eleme Local Government, Hon. Pastor Johnson Obele Nwogu (J.O.) has vowed to stem the spate of insecurity in the local government area to the barest minimum.

Pastor Nwogu who was sworn in on Monday by His Excellency, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Wike, the Executive Governor of Rivers State at the Government House, Port Harcourt, said he would devote his second coming to tackling insecurity in the local government.

“We know our major obligation is to tackle insecurity,” the CTC Chairman declared as he stepped out of the Executive Council chambers in Prot Harcourt.

Some miscreants in the local government area had in the past weeks created apprehension as they killed, maimed and robbed residents and businesses in the area. The activities of the miscreants, who masquerade as cultists, had caused a lot of businesses to close shop while others close early to avoid being attacked,

Night life and free movement of persons were also paralysed during the unfortunate period.

The Chairman had restored security to the area in November 2015 when he was first appointed CTC Chairman. He maintained the situation until after the March 19, 2016 rerun legislative elections when some miscreants under the cover of the fallout of the election began to unleash mayhem in the area.

J.O. said to give effect to the campaign, he and members of his team would take the lead. “We are meant to lead by example,” he said.

The Chairman of the CTC is billed to swear in the other members of the Caretaker Committee on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at the legislative Council Chambers.
