The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have condemned the Igbo Elders for opting for the restructuring of Nigeria’s much criticized political rather than preferring its push for self determination in a separate state of Biafra. In a release made available yesterday by the group’s publicity secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, the IPOB said:

“We members of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) under the command and leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu find it laughable and unwise for the so call political jobers in Biafraland who claimed to be Igbo leaders and elites would allow themselves to be intimidated by their fellow Housa Fulani counterparts in Arewa land. The Arewa elders mandated the so call Igbo elders and some politicians to disown Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB openly for their contracts and bags which they complied but we promise them the Arewa and their cohorts that they cannot intimidate IPOB under Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.”

The self determination group claimed that the Igbo elders were not following in the foot steps of the past revered leaders of the Biafra area known for political astuteness.

“We wondered how the mighty are falling at this present day generation because of greed, jealousy and envy planted among us by the enemies who were jittery over the popularity of our olden days generations, all these things coming from the so called hired Igbo leaders today did not happen during the days of Chief Dr. M.I Okpara, Chief Mbonu Ojike, Chief Dr. Akanu Ibiam, Chief Dr. Nwafor Orizu, Professor Kenneth Dike, Professor Eni Njoku and Dr. K.O Mbadiwe. Honestly we find it so appalling that a few individuals this present day will claim they are speaking for Igbo people to hold us to ransom while they don’t have the mandate to speak for the masses.

“However, we advise the Hausa Fulani not to rejoice that they have intimidated some so called Igbo leaders to submission because of their respective inability to speak openly against the maltreatment of their people in this contraption called Nigeria today. IPOB family members worldwide under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu cannot be intimidated by anybody born by any woman as you did to the acclaimed Igbo leaders.

“IPOB is rooted in more than 125 countries across the globe which is capable of doing anything that come across her way. Arewa threat to the people of God Almighty the Biafrans cannot stop the agitation until the Nigeria Government fix a particular date for Biafra referendum for our people to determine whether they will stay in Nigeria or not.”

On the controversy surrounding the groups position on the forthcoming gubernatorial election in Anambra State, the statement noted:

“On the Anambra election, we realize that Governor Obiano’s internet bloggers and e.rats are twisting what our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu said during his visit to Eze Eri kindom about the killing of our brothers and sisters at Nkpor on the 29th and 30th of May 2016 during the remembrance of heroes and heroines who were massacred between 1967 and 1970 by the Nigerian state. Governor Obiano openly acknowledged the massacre of IPOB members by promising to pay all the hospital bills and mortuary bills which IPOB rejected but to our greatest surprise during the kangaroo panel of enquiry constituted by Nigeria Army, Obiano denied that nobody was killed at Nkpor on those days.”

“It is dangerous and appalling on the side of Obiano but the spirit of those massacred in cold blood in Nkpor will continue to haunt anybody  who did not condemn the barbaric acts. The government agents who were paid to be writing rubbish with the name of our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB must stop or face the consequences in no distant time”, the IPOB held.

“To prove the point, Anambra will be locked down on 18th November without mercy so anybody or persons claiming that our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu had endorsed Obiano’s second term have shot themselves in the two legs. We don’t believe in vabal fight with any individual or group but waiting for the appointed day for action. IPOB under Nnamdi Kanu cannot participate in any other Nigeria elections through out Biafraland not only Anambra State”, the statement concluded.
