The management of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, on Friday visited the palace of the Benin monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba Erediauwa to commiserate with him over the death of his eldest wife, Oloi Esther Omoyenmwen Erediauwa, the Eson N’Erie of Benin kingdoms, who died on Saturday, January 18, 2014 in Benin City.

The NDDC delegation led by the Managing Director, Barr. Bassey Dan-Abia, visited the Oba just as the burial activities entered its fourth day. The team sympathized with the monarch and the people of the entire Benin kingdom. The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Sir Barr Bassey Dan-Abia who was represented by the Executive Director Projects, Engr. Tuoyo Omatsuli, said that the NDDC had always counted on the blessings of the royal family and was, therefore pained by the loss of the motherly support of the late queen.

Barr. Bassey Dan-Abia prayed God to give the Oba and his family the fortitude to bear the great loss. He described the late Oba’s wife as a true mother who demonstrated her love and care for all, adding that her legacies would endure for a long time.

Responding, the Secretary of the Benin Traditional Council, Chief Frank Irabor, thanked the NDDC Chief Executive and his entourage for their visit. He assured them of the continued blessings of the Oba.

The NDDC team also commiserated with other wives of the Oba over the transition of the first queen, Oloi Esther. Responding, Oloi Osarugue Erediauwa thanked the NDDC management for identifying with them in their time of sorrow.

The delegation equally visited members of the family of the late queen at Ivbiotor quarters in Benin City, where the burial activities were in full swing. The NDDC boss urged them to take heart as the late Eson N’Erie lived a worthy life. He said that the family should be consoled by the fact that the late queen lived a fulfilled and fruitful life on earth.
