Former Governor of Cross River, Chief Clement Ebri, has been reaffirmed as the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State at a meeting of the State Executive Committee (SEC) of the party in Calabar.

The South South Zonal Executive Committee of the party led by Ntufam Hilliard Eta had earlier pronounced Chief Ebri as the State Party Leader.
At SEC meeting, the party said the reaffirmation puts to rest, issues surrounding the leadership of the party in the State.
according to a statement by the State Publicity Secretary, Mr Bassey Ita,the party agreed that Chief Ebri is eminently qualified for the position by virtue of belonging to all the organs of the party coupled with his leadership mien.
“We merely reaffirmed an earlier decision of the zonal body for South South, that Chief Ebri, who is a former Governor,Member of National Caucus, Member of Board of Trustees (BOT) Member of the National Executive Committee (NEC)and Member of the State Executive Committee(SEC) should be our leader.”
He maintained that these qualifications stand the former governor out among other contenders as it was the consideration of SEC in it’s decision yesterday.
He also stated: “SEC resolved to commence immediate reconciliation of all aggrieved party members in the State.
“A committee for that purpose has already been put in place and the membership will soon be made public.”
He announced that the State Caucus will soon be inaugurated adding that the party is now fully energised to enact the expected change of guard in the leadership of the State come 2019.
