Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson has described the peaceful conduct of the elections and the victory of Mr. Ayodele Fayose in the Ekiti State governorship polls as a victory for democracy and the people of the State.

In a congratulatory message to Mr. Fayose, Governor Dickson commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the transparent manner in which the election was conducted and the people, for the mature and peaceful manner they expressed themselves at the polls.

He described the mandate given to Mr. Fayose by the people of Ekiti State as welldeserving, especially when this is coming against the incumbent, noting that, it is equally a clear manifestation of the growing profile of the Nation’s democratic institutions.

The Bayelsa State Governor also commended the incumbent Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi for his show of sportsmanship by accepting the outcome of the election and taking the bold step to congratulate Ayo Fayose.

Describing him as a true democrat, Governor Dickson noted that, his conduct was rare in the nation’s democracy and called on the political class to emulate him.

According to Hon. Dickson, Dr. Fayemi has by this singular action, endeared himself to every true believer in the nation’s democracy, adding that, he will remain a reference point for the political class in Nigeria, who hardly accept defeat.

“He has simply proved that, he is different from the rest and posterity will remember him and even give him the opportunity to serve our nation, even at a higher capacity” Dickson remarked.
