The apex Igbo socio-cultural Organisation, Ohaneze Ndi Igbo and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) led by Nnamdi Kanu on Tuesday, agreed to jettison any misunderstanding between the two groups and work together in harmony in the interest of the Igbo people.

The two groups had been at odds recently over attacks by Kanu on the leadership of Ohaneze which was seen as improper by many Igbos. But peace was unconditionally brokered for the two groups at the instance of Nigeria’s First Republic Aviation Minister, Chief Mbazuluike Amechi.

Addressing newsmen at the end of the peace meeting held at the elder statesman’s home in Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Amechi described as unecessary, any form of misunderstanding between Ohaneze Ndigbo and the IPOB.

He said both bodies were fighting for the welfare of the generality of Ndi Igbo.

Amechi, who is the only surviving member of the nationalist Zikist Movement, expressed joy over the withdrawal of the threat by Kanu who urged IPOB members to stone the Ohaneze leader, Chief Nnia Nwodo over his position on issues as well as for the group agreeing to work harmoniously with Ohaneze Ndigbo for the interest of the South East.

He also revealed part of the resolution from the meeting was the demand for de-proscription of the IPOB which is tagged as illegal by the Nigerian government.
