Mr Patrick Ugbe, the Cross River Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development restated Friday in Calabar that the state’s economy blueprint could be actualised without revenue from crude oil. Ugbe, who spoke on his aspiration to become the State Chief Executive, said that with team work, guided by vision, mission and sound planning the Cross River could record phenomenal achievement.
He said that working in Gov. Liyel Imoke’s cabinet had given him the needed experience and prepared him better for the task of leadership at this time in the History of the State.
He said he would also sustain Imoke’s vision for the good of Cross River and commended the Governor for his exceptional leadership style and wisdom in the governance of Cross River.
He urged residents and people of Cross River to follow the direction the Governor is going for the interest of the State.
According to Ugbe successful leaders must have first been good followers with a passion for service to the state and its people in the sustenance of gains of democracy.
The aspirant noted that every Cross Riverian had something to contribute to the growth of the State and called on them to be part of the project Cross River for the sake of generations unborn.
Ugbe said, it was evident that Senator Imoke had lifted the State to a high pedestal and has equally addressed some teething challenges of the State and was therefore worthy of a good successor.
He promised to uphold the tenets of democracy, build integrity and fight corruption effectively and bring in an era of responsible leadership if his aspiration to be governor is actualised.
Speaking on the ongoing voters registration exercise in the State, Ugbe appealed to interest groups to sensitize the populace to register so as to beef up the voters population figures.
According to him, the voters card is a ticket that gives its holder freedom and power to stand behind their leader and ensure that credible persons are elected to lead them.
