The family of Mrs Dalepel Collins, a middle-aged hypertensive woman, arrested and detained unlawfully by the Inspector-General of Police (IG) Monitoring Unit, since Nov. 25 in Port Harcourt, has appealed for justice.

The family, through its Counsel, Cosmas Enweleuzo (SAN), also appealed to the I-G to cause the CSP Alex Udeze-led `IG Monitoring Unit’ of the Nigerian Police Force, Aluu Rivers State Command, to obey court orders and release the detainee on bail.

Mrs Collins, a Port Harcourt-based business woman, had through Enweluzo sought and obtained an order of a Federal High, Port Harcourt to enforce the detainee’s fundamental Rights to ensure her release on bail.

This came after a 41-paragraph affidavit, sworn to and deposed to on her behalf by the detainee’s husband, Mr Collins Ogundu.

Justice Adamu Mohammed, sitting in Port Harcourt, granted the reliefs sought by the Applicant against the I-G, Mohammed Adamu, the state Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mukan, one Inspector Friday Usman, Ampal Construction Company Limited and Michael Orwu.

The court which directed that hearing noticed be issued, ordered the first to third Respondents to immediately release the Applicant to bail on reasonable terms and condition pending hearing in the case.
