When I see a pregnant, mad woman, my first reaction, after pity, is curiosity. I begin to wonder how the male collaborator performed that office – how he was able to tickle lunatic violence to submission; how he was able to generate libido from a female human that does not excite any sexual appetite; how he found space and secrecy for the sexual loot, etc.

There have been stories that implicate spiritual element in why a sane man would undertake such a weird sexual tourism. There is also the possibility of madman paternity for the unborn child.

But it is not a pregnant mad woman that has engendered my recent probing into men’s sexual predation. It is the sight of a young lady with a serious case of Down’s Syndrome, pregnant. She’s indifferent to her frontal burden, ebullient to the point of danger – out of ignorance. She is not married, no. Given her mental deficiency, some men in the neighbourhood have found in her a sexual thorough-fare, such that they have made her pregnant, I’m told, now for the fourth time!

Anonymity – that is the reason an adult male can summon erection, rather than empathy, for the pillaging of such a woman. It is because that lady lacks the sanity to point fingers and shame her violators. It is because she is too innocent to lay claims to dignity. What is sadder in this case, is that this anonymous paternity has produced more children with DS, since, I’m told, two of her kids have the condition.

I have been close to a family with a special-needs child. It is not a joke, the pains such families go through caring for their members with such trouble, in a society where such abnormalities provoke stigma and accusations of supernatural nemesis, rather than sympathy. It is more galling to have the pains of such families receive new additions on the account of anonymous manhood idiocy.

Truth is, the world is madder and more callous than we thought. It is situations like these that make me feel that, even if there were no Hell, one should be created!
