Sen. Bassey Otu said he decided to dump the PDP and adopt the Labour Party’s platform (LP) to realise his ambition to return to the senate in 2015.
Out, who lost his ticket at the PDP National Assembly primaries for Cross River South Senatorial District, stated this in a statement made available to journalists in Calabar Wednesday.
According to him, the adoption of the LP platform to realise his second term senate ambition is reached after wide consultations among his constituents since the party had already adopted President Goodluck Johnathan.
He said that he would continue to serve his people and improve on past performances, adding that “certainly there is no vacancy’’.
He said: “I wish to formally break my silence on which option to follow in assuaging the wishes of my teeming supporters as to the platform to adopt in their determination to enable me continue to represent them in the senate.

After wide consultations my constituents endorsed my resignation and subsequent adoption of the Labour party as an alternative platform to actualise the popular demand ahead of the 2015 elections.

“The Labour Party has already endorsed Jonathan as its flag bearer hence the adopted platform further cements the continuity of the Transformation agenda which truly is on course in the nation.
it is my belief that our mandate as a people will be realised on the platform of a collective will and tenacity of purpose such that the enemies of democracy can realise the sanctity of the polls as a beacon of development’’.
