The Bayelsa Directorate for Project Monitoring and Evaluation on Tuesday expressed satisfaction with the pace of work on ongoing major road projects in the state which have exceeded set timelines.
According to the Directorate, the Igbedi road project has reached 80 percent completion while the AIT- Igobogene outer ring road has reached asphalt statge up to Okaki junction.
Mr Ebiye Tarabina, Chairman of the Directorate, who expressed satisfaction with ongoing projects urged contractors handling government project to keep to specifications as the government would not tolerate any compromise in standards.
Tarabina made the call during a inspection visits to ongoing projects in the state.
The chairman said the era when contractors cut corners and build sub standards projects was over, adding that the government would not hesitate the sanction and blacklist erring companies..
Tarabina said the present administration was fully committed to the infrastructural development of the state, adding that contractors should ensure projects were executed according to the best of standard.
He said the projects were very significant for the present and future development of the state, noting that it was imperative for contractors to abide by the contractual terms of agreement to deliver as at when due.
At the Igbedi road project, the chairman commended the company handling the project, PAACIE Construction Limited, for the quality and pace of work achieved, urged the contractor to sustain the tempo.
The General Manager of the company, Mr. Sarkis Abichmount said over 80 percent of the job had been achieved, and pledged completion of the project on schedule.
At the Sagbama”Ekeremor road project, the chairman lauded the contractor for the milestones recorded on the project, urged the contractor to intensify efforts for the speedy completion of the project.
Other projects inspected include: the concrete pavement at Ayamasa, the ongoing Glory Drive road project, AIT-Igbogene outer ring road, the Opolo-AIT road, the Elebele bridge and rehabilitation work at Imiringi road.
The chairman was accompanied on the project inspection tour by members of the board, heads of department, engineers,support staff amongst others.
