A combined team of security Operatives in Ebonyi State, yesterday invaded the main camp of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) at Isu in Onicha Local Go vernment Area of the state, killing three gunmen, while many others were left with injuries.
Ebonyi State Police Public Relations Officer, Chris Anyanwu who confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abakaliki, the state capital said a joint operation of the command’s Tactical Team, the military and the DSS was detailed to dislodge hoodlums st the main camp of the Eastern Security Network, in the area.
Mr Anyanwu said the operation was in response to a recent attack on a police patrol team, in which an officer was killed by the hoodlums.
“The success of the operation was informed by intelligence report before the command. On approaching the camp, the hoodlums had already ambushed the security team and engaged them in a gun battle that lasted over 30 minutes”, he said.
The police spokesperson said the team later combed the bush and recovered two AK – 47 riffle with a few rounds of their ammunition and three dead bodies of the hoodlums.
