The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has for the umpteenth time, reiterated its commitment to the Golden Eaglets over their participation at the 11th African Under-17 Championship which opens on Sunday in Niamey.
Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, Director of competitions gave the assurance that the NFF would meet its financial obligation at a dinner reception after the team’s 4-1 win against Fasbir Integrated Football Academy on Wednesday, asking the players to be determined in their quest to conquer the continent.
He said that the get-together was at the instance of the NFF’s President, Mr. Amaju Pinnick, who was unavoidably absent to bid the team’s farewell due to other engagements that would even keep him away from watching the team’s early matches at Niger 2015.
He quoted Mr. Pinnick as saying that the Golden Eaglets should  remember that the country is the defending world champions and therefore should ensure qualification for the next edition of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup in Chile as well as gun for the trophy.
“The NFF’s President mandated me to hold this reception for you before you travel out to Niger on behalf of the board. Be reminded that you are going to Niger for business and don’t forget that as the defending champions of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup, the main objective is to qualify for the next edition in Chile.
“Nigerians are solidly behind you and on our part as a federation, we have made adequate arrangement for your allowances to be paid; so just go out there and do your best,” Sanusi said.

He said he was impressed with the overall conduct of  the team since its assemblage by coach Emmanuel Amuneke ,asking the team to remain ‘tactically and spiritually ‘ disciplined in Niger.

Responding, Amuneke thanked  Dr. Sanusi  and his family  for their hospitality to the team, adding that  the team is aware of the challenges ahead.
“On behalf of officials and players of the Golden Eaglets, we want to thank you  and your family for these  sumptuous meal . In fact, I want to use this opportunity again to thank Sokoto people because we have enjoyed our time here and it is our prayers that at the end of Niger 2015, we would have cause to celebrate,” the former African Footballer of the Year said.
