For Immediate Release

Office of Press Relations

On Monday, July 18, Administrator Samantha Power will deliver a keynote address at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, co-hosted by the Eleanor Crook Foundation, on the growing global food security crisis, outlining steps the United States is taking to address global hunger and malnutrition.

The Administrator’s remarks will describe the world’s food crisis, including spiking food, fertilizer, and food prices, resulting from a combination of climate shocks, the impact of COVID-19, and conflict, exacerbated by Putin’s unprovoked war against Ukraine. She will outline the United States’ response to address the immediate crisis, including bold steps USAID is taking to combat worsening severe malnutrition and efforts to strengthen global agricultural productivity to prevent the next food security catastrophe.

The Administrator will be joined by senior representatives from private philanthropy pursuing public-private investment in the fight against hunger and malnutrition.
