Police in Ebonyi State has confirmed three persons dead, in the recent attack at Galaxy Hotel, Nkwoagu Isu in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, by unknown gunmen.
Police Public Relations Officer, Ebonyi State Command, SP Chris Anyanwu who confirmed this to newsmen in Abakaliki, said the DPO in charge of the area, despatched a team of police operatives to the area on hearing sounds of suspected gunshots.
“The DPO in charge of the Police Division there despatched a team of police operatives pronto to the area. They traced the direction of the suspected gunfire up to Home Galaxy Hotel, Nkwoagu Isu where it was eventually discovered that unknown armed men invaded the hotel and opened gunfire on people”, he confirmed.
Anyanwu disclosed that eleven shells of expended AK47 ammunition were recovered from the scene. He however, said the victims were quickly evacuated to Amagu Mgbom Health Center where they were confirmed dead and later deposited at the Morgue.
Among the people found dead were Mr Augustine Ogbonnaya Nwadiba, the owner of the hotel, an indigene of Mgbom Amator Isu, Mr Henry Ezeani Chukwu, an aide to a PDP governorship candidate, Ifeanyi Odii, and Alexander Ekwe Okie, a native of Uhuoke Amanator Isu.
The PPRO disclosed that the Homicide Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, has embarked on a scropulours investigation of the incident.
He urged residents of the state to assist the security agencies with reliable information that will help in bringing the perpetrators to book and assured that their information will be treated with confidence.
