A Federal High Court sitting in Awka, Anambra State has restrained the Peter Obi-led All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA from parading Mr Maxi Okwu as National Chairman and Hon. Egwuoyibo Okoye as Anambra state chairman of the party. The court also restrains the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC from recognizing the APGA’s newly elected EXCO as a legitimate organ of the party.

But in a swift reaction, Okwu whose headship of the APGA is being challenged by Victor Umeh, at whose instance the Awka Federal High Court gave the restraining order said in a message that the “order will not stand” The message circulated on social media read:

“There is pending before the Federal High Court Abuja Division at Court 7 two cases against us by Victor Umeh and his agents. We were stunned that yesterday these gangsters in a complete abuse of court process and fundamental rights of the respondents, stole into the FHC Division at Awka of all places, obtained a jankara order restraining us from parading as the legitimate leadership of APGA. This order will not stand. I want to reassure all those who have expressed confidence in us that darkness will never succeed over light. The struggle will continue. Standby for further details”.

In a separate message, Okwu said that the APGA was continuing with its cross-country town hall meetings around Nigeria.

“The new APGA train moves to Enugu capital of Ala-Igbo for the mother of all Town hall meetings on Friday 19th of April 2013. The meeting which is open to the general public would would take place at the nobility hall of Royal Palace Hotel Agbani Road Enugu. The meeting is scheduled to commence at 12 noon prompt, after courtesy visits to Odezuluigbo II Igwe Julius Nnaji, Commissioner of Police Enugu State, and Director SSS. Come one come all” he stated.
