The Joint Task Force (JTF) in the Niger Delta , Operation Pulo Shield on Thursday announced the arrest of four suspected sea pirates by its operatives in Bayelsa waterways. Gov Dickson denies plans to defect to APC

 
 
Briefing journalists at JTF’s Headquarters in Yenagoa, Lt.-Col. Isa Ado, Spokesman of JTF said that the four suspected pirates aged between 17 and 22 were apprehended with arms and ammunition.
 
According to him, troops of the JTF deployed to Fontua in Brass Local Government Area effected the arrest on May 11 and 12 , 2015.
 
“Items recovered from the pirates include one AK 47 riffle with registration number QQ1798, 4 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammunition, one G3 riffle loaded with 7.62 mm special ammunition.
 
“One G3 riffle loaded 7.62mm NATO and one action guun loaded with cartridges.” Ado said.
 
Ado said that the suspects were responsible for all the attacks and pirates activities on the Mbikiri and Nembe 1 waterways of the state.
 
He explained that the hoodlums take advantage of the difficult terrain in the creeks to unleash attack on their victims.
 
He said that it is hoped that the arrest will make the waterways safe and conducive for voyage and economic activities in the Niger Delta region.
 
Ado solicited the support of members of the public to support the JTF in its bid to combat illegal oil bunkering and allied illegailities in the region.
