As children all over the country celebrate Children’s Day, Governor Seriake Dickson has assured them that, the State Government would continue to accord priority to issues relating to women and children towards giving them a better life.
Governor Dickson gave the assurance at a party organized by his wife, Dr. Rachael in Government House, Yenagoa in commemoration of this year’s Children’s Day Celebration.
Describing children as the greatest blessings to the world, the Governor charged them to imbibe the virtues of obedience and respect to their parents, teachers and elders so as to become responsible citizens of the society.
He said the present administration was working assiduously to lay a solid foundation to groom young people in realizing their innate potentials for them to compete favourably with their counterparts anywhere in the world.
The State Chief Executive also advised the children to take their education seriously to enable them play their role as future leaders, as some of them could end up in various fields of endeavor.
In her remarks, wife of the Governor, Dr. Rachael Dickson congratulated the children on the occasion of the 27th of May children’s day celebration, stressing that, the period has been was set aside globally to honour them.
The Wife of the Governor said, as the Mother of the State, she would continue to champion the cause of women and children towards uplifting their living standards, particularly in the area of the girl child education.
She called on the children to be of good conduct at all times and charged them to shun all forms of vices, that could tarnish their image and that of their families.
Also speaking, Mrs. Faith Opene thanked the Governor and his wife for making the day memorable for the children of the State.
